how to restore access to the phone if i forget my password

We all forget something sometimes. For example, you are turning off the iron before leaving for work, closing the door, and so on.

Some people may need to remember their smartphone unlock password. It can be either a numeric value or a graphic key. Unfortunately, some people can’t remember passwords, including the Evolution Gaming Crazy Time games code. So what to do when your smartphone is yours, but you can’t get into it?

How to unlock an Android phone

Use Smart Lock

Android Smart Lock is an excellent feature for those who forget things. The nuance is that it needs to be set up in advance. So if you still need to unlock your smartphone, use the tips below. And then be sure to set up Smart Lock. And here’s why.

Smart Lock is a feature available to Android device owners released later than 2015. It allows you to specify certain conditions under which the smartphone will be unlocked.

Physical contact.

The smartphone won’t ask for a password if it knows it’s near you, for example, in your pocket or your hands. Several smartphone sensors work. For example, your voice, face, or walking style are detected—the accelerometer, which is placed in many smartphones, records and remembers the nature of your movements. If your speed suddenly changes, the device locks up.

Safe Locations

The smartphone can be unlocked without entering a password near places specified in the settings. For example, you can keep your smartphone open at home or in the office. This set includes three options:

  • High precision (uses GPS and home Wi-Fi network).
  • Battery saving (home Wi-Fi network only).
  • The device only (GPS).

Reliable devices.

Your smartphone is unlocked next to trusted devices. So, for example, you can connect to a fitness bracelet or smart watch, car speakers, and other devices via Bluetooth.

Bypass protection with your Google account

If you’ve forgotten your password, you can use the old and tried-and-true method of honestly telling the system that you’ve forgotten your password. However, to do this, you will have to enter your password five times incorrectly.

The phone will then ask you, without mockery, ‘Forgot your password?’ First, you’ll have to admit that you forgot it. Then the smartphone will take you to the Google page, asking you to enter your username and password for your account.

If you’re in trouble and forget your Google account password, you’ll have to admit it to the system again. Then you will have to regain access to your Google account and phone.

Use a service from a smartphone manufacturer.

Some smartphone manufacturers offer special programs/services through which you can unlock your smartphone. But not all of them do. For example, Sony and Huawei immediately advise clearing the data (which we will discuss later). But Samsung is worried about the safety of your photos and other important information, so it offers to go to the Find My Mobile page. It is a service that allows you not only to find a smartphone you have lost somewhere or stolen. With this service, you can delete your password information: the graphic key, PIN, and even your fingerprint.

Remove the password through your Google account on your computer.

Before you reset your smartphone to factory settings by poking around in the smartphone’s factory menu, you can use the browser and remotely clean your smartphone of both data and password. Unfortunately, if the methods above did not help you, you only have to return the phone to factory settings, which means deleting all the data, thereby getting rid of the password you forgot.

What to do?

  • Sign in to your Google account.
  • Follow the link to the Android site. Accept the GPS offer.
  • Select the one you want on the top left if you have more than one Android device connected to your account.
  • Click ‘Clear Device.’ Confirm your intentions by clicking the agree to clear button.
  • After that, your smartphone will be as good as new. At least on the inside. All your data will be lost, but you can set it up again and enter a password that you won’t forget.

How to unlock an iPhone

So, you’ve forgotten your iPhone password. Time to panic? No. It’s time to bite the bullet and unlock your device.

Since Apple is constantly updating the device’s security policy, the iPhone has three kinds of locks. These are screen lock, iCloud activation, and carrier lock. So what to do in each case?

When locking the screen.

Finding the number combination with which you have locked access to your smartphone is impossible. You have ten attempts to remember the password. After that, the company will ask you to rest for a minute. Then the time between entering one password will increase until it reaches several hours.

  • It would help if you had a Windows or macOS computer. Install iTunes. You can download it here. Launch the program.
  • Turn off your iPhone by holding down the power button on the side.
  • Connect your smartphone to your computer using the cable. How to do this in the case of different iPhone models:
  • iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, second-generation iPhone SE, iPhone X, and newer models. Connect the device to your computer with the USB cable by pressing the side button. Wait to release until the restore screen appears.
  • iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Hold the volume down button and connect the smartphone to the PC via a USB cable. Wait to release until the restore screen appears.
  • First-generation iPhone SE, iPhone 6s, or older models. Press the home button, and connect the device to your PC with the USB cable. Wait to let go until the recovery screen appears.
  • In iTunes, you’ll see information about the connected device being detected. You will be prompted to restore or update your iPhone. Click ‘Restore.’
  • Wait for the procedure to complete.

The program will tell you what to do next when the recovery procedure is complete. For example, you can set up your iPhone as new or recover data from the last cloud connection. In this way, you can restore all the data.

When iCloud activation is blocked

If you forget your Apple ID account username and password after recovery, a different type of lock is waiting for you. It is an iCloud activation lock.

If you bought your iPhone by hand and didn’t check whether the iCloud activation lock is disabled, this is a highly unpleasant surprise for you. Most likely, the previous owner of the device used the Locator app and enabled the smartphone lock. In this state, it is useless to you. You can’t bypass the lock with third-party programs. Requesting an unlock of your smartphone from Apple Support probably won’t work either. Finally, you can only prove it’s your device if you provide personal information or a receipt. Here’s a link to Apple’s recommendations for checking an iPhone you’ve bought off-hand.

If this is your iPhone, but you encounter an iCloud activation lock, you can do the following.

Go to your Apple account page and click ‘Forgot your Apple ID or password?’ Follow the instructions. You’ll be prompted to answer quiz questions, get an email to the email address you provided when you signed up, or use a recovery key. Choose the correct option, contact your password, and sign in to your iPhone.

If something else works (you don’t have a recovery key, forgot the answers to the questions, and the email doesn’t arrive), the only chance left is to remove the lock with Apple Support. First, you’ll need proof of purchase of the device. Prepare the box, receipt, and other documents. Next, go to the Apple website in the support section, and fill out an application. Describe the situation in as much detail as possible. Write down your phone number and wait for a call.
