74-year-old sentenced to five-year jail in Prevention of Corruption Act case

In a 50-year-old case, a Special Court in Lucknow (UP) has sentenced a 74-year-old man to five years in jail and a fine of Rs 5,000.

The Judgement was passed by Special Judge Somprabha Mishra of the Prevention of Corruption Act Court.

While considering the age of the accused, the Court has ordered to adjust the sentence spent in jail.

According to Assistant District Government Advocate Naveen Tripathi, accused Narendra Dev Tiwari alias Bhangad, resident of Samethi of Lakhimpur Kheri Dhaurhara police station, was a student of LLB first year in 1972 and lived in Habibullah Hostel. MA first year student Jagdish Sharan Tripathi used to live in this hostel.

In a minor argument, Narendra Dev attacked Jagdish Sharan with a knife.
